Economic
• optimizing containerised freight• reducing costs
• creating business models
• increasing customer satisfaction
• reducing container operating/ handling time in the transportation system
Social
• reducing road accidents• upgrading safety and security levels of containers which have reached destination or in transit
• improving container control in terms of authorities
• improving container control fro beneficiaries by tracking/tracing
Environmental Protection
• reducing CO2 emissions• reducing road noise
• avoiding road congestion at the maritime port entrance
• green corridors for goods
• electrified railway
• reducing fuel consumption
• choosing locations for implementation DP without decisions related to land (affecting lakes, rivers, creating new interior waterways)
Benefits Dryport
We consider that our research could contribute to the reduction of the total cost per container, as well as to the improvement of container railway transportation and implicitly to the reduction of empty containers returns. Also, our project could contribute to the improvement of the transportation services quality and consequently to the optimization of the whole logistic chain:
• the improvement of these procedures will ensure goods reloading in time
• the optimization of the whole system will result in a better priority management
• the punctuality of the information exchange will ensure the planning, programming and maximum control
Another advantage which may occur due to our research, more precisely due to project implementation would be the improvement of logistic services by: reducing the logistic chain by grouping activities in territorial terminals, increasing safety in dangerous goods transportation, reducing accident, damage and theft risks. Moreover, dryports will significantly contribute to increasing the capacity of maritime ports without financial investment and additional space.
